Dinner and Forks

The kids always want to sit by Daddy for dinner. And lately Veda isn't always in her high chair. So Dave gets 2 inches of space to eat.
Future hairstylist like her momma? Putting her (dirty) fork to some good use- doing Daddy's hair

Of course he lets her- because look at that cute face.

Christmas Pillowcases

I made each of the kids a Christmas pillowcase yesterday. I used THIS tutorial. It was an interesting way of making a pillowcase, but also kind of fun. I think I'm going to give them to the kids as the first day of their countdown.

favorite things

Some of my favorite things right now:
Veda's coat. It's from Old Navy-- a very long time ago since it was Quinn's. It's so super darling on her. It ALMOST makes me wish there were more cool days so she could wear it more. Almost.
I know- are you freaking out? Amber is actually posing a HEALTHY food?? It's crazy, I know. I found this salad kit at Costco last week. I am NOT a salad eater. I love vegetables, but salads are not my thing. But this-- amazing. So super healthy, and yummy too. Brussel sprouts, kale, broccoli, cabbage, plus the cranberries and poppyseed dressing (and try adding some of your leftover turkey). It's so good. Plus just the greens are really good on a taco instead of regular lettuce.
Have most of you discovered coconut oil?? I have a friend who's a health nut (KELSEY), who introduced me to coconut oil. A couple days ago I read on her blog that she was rubbing it on her face before her shower. DO IT. I did it this morning, and my face feels so good. It sounds weird, but seriously try it.
Clementines. We can eat through a whole bag of these in a day.
Compression socks. This is me after my victorious turkey trot through my neighborhood. Don't worry- there weren't a ton of runners. And my pace was only 8-8:30, so I really shouldn't have won. A Thanksgiving miracle, I guess :)
But these socks- amazing. I have a tendency to get shin splints, so I got a pair after I started feeling a little pain in my shins. But now I wear them on every run, and all day long if I've done a long run that morning. My feet pain was all starting from my calves being too tight, and these socks aid your calf muscles in recovery.  So I feel like these are not only helping my shins, but also preventing more foot pain.
These 3 munchkins. Sorry- not sold in stores.

Pictures! and Instagrams

And look!! Pictures!!! Thanks to my friend Whitney who had the same problem- I figured it out. (even without Dave's help. Feel free to pat me on the back)
So here's some instragrams to hold you over until I have a minute more to blog.

Veda eating/blowing bubbles

 Lovin' at the grocery store
I have an awesome friend who stood in a humungous long line with me on the opening day of H&M.

I'm not even joking, Hendrix said this: "Why hello there, little cutie."
A shirt of Dave's that I altered to fit me
 a bib I made for a friend who's having a baby!
Some burp rags for her too.
hanging out at Dave's soccer game last Saturday
Date night at Alamo. The new James Bond movie-- neither one of us really liked it :(
we had a sad day the other day. Veda fell and bashed her teeth/lip/nose. Poor girl- lots of blood. Not only that- but Hendrix swallowed a Lego 30 minutes before this happened.

Happy Thanksgiving

Sad... I'm out of 'storage' so I can't put any pictures up. Hopefully Dave will save the day and help me with this ol' blog so I can put up pictures again.

I was going to do a 'thankful' post about sewing. And show you all some pictures of things I've sewn lately. It's not quite the same without pictures. But if you know me at all or have read my blog for any amount of time, you know how much I love to make things. I'm loving my new serger (I even used it today to alter a t-shirt of Dave's). It now fits me and is awesome :)

I'm thankful for my mother for teaching me to sew. I'm thankful for Dave who encourages me to create. And I'm thankful for all you who are so sweet about the things I make and share on the blog.

As I'm sitting here smelling the pumpkin pie cooking in the oven, I'm thankful for this happy season of thankfulness. I am so blessed with happy beautiful children, a wonderful family, a beautiful place to live, a healthy body, uplifting hobbies, and wonderful friends. How's that for some mush? Happy Thanksgiving!

picnic at the pond

Yesterday afternoon was perfect, so we decided to pack up our dinner and take it to the pond and have a picnic. Have I mentioned how much I love Texas in the fall??!! Let me tell you again-- this place is AWESOME. I don't know why everyone doesn't live here.
Do you love how I have to strangle my kids to get in a picture with me?
 And we fed the ducks.

Hendrix wanted to run up this hill with me over and over. I was kind mad at myself for wearing flip flops because running up hills is one of my top 3 favorite things to do lately. (I still ran with him, but I couldn't give it all I had because of my sandals) :)
This baby and her daddy.
Veda is quite obsessed with Dave lately (can you blame her?!). She asks for Dada ALL DAY LONG. I'll ask if she wants me to read her a book- and she screeches "Naaaahh.... Dada." And she gets so excited when he gets home from work. It's the cutest.

Eating rocks

I can't believe I somehow missed these gems from a couple months ago. Just Veda eating a rock.

Look at her looking right at me. Just asking for me to stop her.
Ha! Take a picture of this mom!
Hmm.. maybe not as tasty as she thought.

thankful

I know this one is obvious- but I thought it would still be nice to tell you all how thankful I am for my family.

Dave- He is awesome and funny and handsome and creative and makes me feel like I'm amazing. He is a great dad to our children. He is awesome at his job and works so hard at supporting our family. I feel so thankful that he's mine.

Quinn- my sweet darling big girl. Quinn is so good. It just comes naturally for her and I am so thankful for what a good big sister she is. She is smart and beautiful and kind- and what could be better than that?

Hendrix- He is my cool little dude. He is smart and sweet and loves his momma. He loves fun and reminds us to enjoy life.

Veda- I am so thankful Veda is in our family. She is such a sweet and peaceful addition. She is darling and cute and funny and I can't imagine our family without her. (thank goodness I talked Dave into #3, right??! JK) :)

Family is the best.

Thankful

I have been loving all the Thankful posts floating around this month. I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. I'm not going to do it everyday, but hopefully a few times between now and the big day.

I'm thankful for running. I LOVE to run. I feel like I have really lucked out finding this running group I'm in. (The 'sole sisters'). They have really welcomed me into their tight group. It is really a random miracle that I found them. I had bumped into my neighbor who was running to meet up with them. She only runs with them once a week, so what are the chances?

They are all quite a bit older and MEGA runners. We're talking many many marathons every year. And the ones who don't run multiple marathons every year, fly around the country doing Ragnar Relays together. They run at a good pace and are consistent. They push me- but not too hard that I can't keep up. I don't have a ton in common with them, but it is still so nice to have anyone to talk to early in the morning as I'm trying to get through the miles. We all ran 13 miles together on Saturday. It was so fun, there was probably 8 of us and they helped me get through the longest training run I've ever done. Then we were right back at it (12 of us!) first thing this morning for the usual 6 we run together 4 days a week.  I am so thankful that I'm not injured and that I'm able to do something that I love so much with people who help me along the way.
