In the car

Just the kids in the car yesterday. Hendrix found this hat on our way out the door and wanted to wear it. I thought he looked pretty silly.

My pretty girl. I love her skinny jeans and cons.

Quinn has started saying funny sayings (not really funny, but funny coming from a 3-year-old) like:

"this is my pet cow. His name is T-bone"
"Look at this CRAZY mess."
"watch mommy, this will knock your socks off"

She's really growing up. It's unreal to me that she'll be 4 in a couple months.

Valentine song

quinn learned this song at Preschool today. If you can't understand the words, I THINK they are:
"I cut a valentine,
colored it bright.
Look at the lovely decorations I drew
I cut a Valentine, because
I love you."

random

look at THIS super cute nursery. I wish I was able to pull a whole room together as well as some people. I love that gray rug. Or anything gray. And I might have to copy that wall with the white frames and paper. and I've been eyeing those same galvanized tubs at Lowes... so cute. Not that baby V's room isn't looking cute, it just doesn't have hope of looking like a designer did it :)

wednesday

this is what happens when your 3 year old picks out her own outfit for the day. I even let her wear this to the store today. The crazy thing is that after we got home she wanted to change her pants-- and put on a pair of jeans and looked MUCH more coordinated.

made some hair clips for the girls. the big ones are for quinn-- and the little ones are for you-know-who.

another major project

I made the baby a blanket today. okay.... I didn't really MAKE it, but I cut the edges cute. I've been in love with this fabric since I bought it, but wanted to do something more interesting that just snipping the edges or rounding the corners. (it's fleece)

So I made this FANCY pattern (i know... I've got some talent)

ta-da... all done. Her first home-made blankie from her mom. anyone want to borrow my pattern?? haha...

and the ONLY picture I got of either of the kids today.

cleaning and bracelets

sorry mom... no pictures of the kiddos. I've been too busy organizing I guess :)
Here's my list of what I've organized so far. It's been a lot of work. So much, in fact, that I'm taking the day off. I had a long evening of braxton hicks last night that I think was due to my crazy cleaning yesterday.

junk drawer
tupperware drawer
kids drawer (sippy cups/bowls/etc)
master bathroom shelves/drawers
linen closet
file cabinet
under kitchen sink (cleaners/rags)

It feels so good to see these places so clean and organized, although I still have a long way to go. wish me luck :)

Quinn and I did make some bracelets for the baby today though. Kind of funny-- we've been talking about it for weeks (that we would make the baby some bracelets during quiet time some day). She's been excited... obviously. Yet-- she only made one. Can you tell which one? ha. she very carefully chose the beads and strung them herself.

baby party

my dear friend, Christy is having a baby boy soon. So (naturally) we threw her a party :)

us three on the left are the pregnant ones... our babies will all be pretty close together. Shaanti (red earrings) is having her baby like a week before me, and Christy is due 6 weeks after me.

It was a fun night. I'm so excited for you Christy!!!

very exciting

I am very excited. My parents got Baby V a new pack n' play!!!! When I was pregnant with Q, someone very generously gave me their old pack n' play. We've used it for years, and it's been good to us, but I've ALWAYS wanted a new cute one. They make them so fancy now. So when my mom told me to go buy one-- WHATEVER I WANTED--I was thrilled. I was seriously gitty with excitement as I walked into Babies r' us yesterday.

look-- a spot to hang diapers and wipes right by the changing station :)

look at the cuteness of the green and grey... i love it. Thanks mom and dad for already spoiling my new little girl. I hope she loves this as much as i do :)

On a side note, I've been ORGANIZING. Like crazy, actually. THIS blog has a 21 day organizational challenge, and I decided that since I have a baby coming, it would be awesome to get things in order before she gets here. Plus with the awful amount of sickness we've had around here, it feels good to deep clean stuff. I've already cleaned: my junk drawer, my computer desk, my file cabinet (that was a doozy) and my tupperware drawer. If you scroll down a bit on her blog, you can see the whole list of things to organize (on the right). The list also includes the freezer, linen closet, bathroom drawers, etc. I'm not taking before and after pictures like she suggests-- just organizing is enough work for me :)

boost

want to know what is a great confidence boost for a pregnant girl?? Sitting down and having the bum of your jeans RIP wide open. yep... it's awesome. ONE of my TWO pairs of maternity jeans are totally shot (I should have known better than to sit down). And i'm out of tummy sleeves, so I can't even make myself another pair. Here's to suffering through the next 5 weeks with ONE pair of pants and doing laundry at really weird times so i have something to wear :)

sewing, stenciling, and praying

I sincerely hope that my baby girl has the cutest burp rags out of any of her friends. :)

I decided that the burp rags I made for Quinn weren't good enough anymore. ha. now that i've been sewing them for a couple of years I've perfected what I like. So I made a bunch. I actually felt almost guilty making them for her since I know SO MANY girls that are having babies. I feel like I should be sewing for them. But I stuck it out and made some for my own baby. She needs them too :)

I've experimented with minky lately. (i always back them with minky now. I used to use chenille, but I decided that they aren't nearly as soft). anyway-- the polka dot minky is nice and easy to sew, but i think my favorite is the striped minky. The one in the middle maybe isn't minky?? super soft, but maybe a little too thick. We'll see what I think of it after I she spews on them and I wash them a few times. (and on the front I always use flannel. I used to use cotton sometimes, but flannel has been my favorite!)

I made Quinn a new backpack for preschool. I didn't make the backpack-- I got it for 97 cents at Joann's-- but I freezer paper stenciled the owl on it. It was quite tricky actually. If you look closely you can see how I melted the white plastic border around the owl. oops. good thing it was only a buck. and good thing that Quinn LOVES it anyway and will never notice that I melted the plastic while trying to get the stencil on.

My sweet baby girl and her sweet daddy. how cute are they?

Quinn's prayer tonight: (I'm not changing this at all, I swear)

"dear Heavenly Father.
Thankful for this day.
Please bless that Hendrix will dance more.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

x reading a book

Hendrix is talking up a storm lately. I tried to catch some of it on video, but I was drawing a blank when I started recording. Him reading the book is pretty cute though-- it might help if you try and read the words too. :) and please pay no attention to my messy bonus room... I've been sick and nothing has gotten done. How embarrassing....

life's not fair

I really hope that all your mom's used to use that line too. Whenever I would say "That's not fair!!" My sweet mother would say, "well... Life's not fair." I'm sure feeling that this week. I am sick AGAIN. And while I'm grateful that it's not one of my kids, it's the pits being this pregnant and sick. This is my THIRD illness since Christmas. So. Not. Fair.

Here are my sweet kids coloring. Just check out how good Hendrix's coloring skills are getting... so cute.

And part of me also realizes that there is opposition in all things, and since I'm weeks away from getting the biggest, best, blessing ever-- maybe I deserve all these illnesses right in a row.

kids

A couple of old pictures... that you've probably already seen. but boy do i have awesome kids. They make my day. Every day. It's hard to believe that this little guy isn't going to be 'the baby' any more. I should probably stop calling him that in preparation for the next baby. he is just cute and funny and still the sweetest little guy ever.

dave and i were talking last night about the new baby and wondering how much she'll be alike and unlike Quinn. Quinn has had such a personality that it's hard to imagine another girl around here. How fun it will be to see what she's like, and how Quinn adjusts to a sister. can't wait :)

changing pad and 32 week belly

my mom sent me this cute amy butler fabric for Christmas, so I decided to make the baby a changing pad. thanks mom :)

my 32 week belly: (this shirt was a bad idea. from the front... okay)

and WHOA!!! from the side, not okay. too bad I didn't look at these pictures before we left for church.

Day with Huszar's

We went to lunch and the mall with Jason and Christy today. Here we are waiting in the car. We were a little early because we came right from picking up our 'Bountiful Basket.' Quinn thought she was pretty cool 'driving' with daddy.

The boys hanging out at the restaurant. I'm sure everyone in the tiny little restaurant we went to LOVED us. We had lots of noisy kids, plus hungry parents who wanted to just ignore them and eat :)

Hendrix and Owen at the mall

Quinn and Emery held hands almost the whole time we were at the mall. It was adorable.
I love this picture. Quinn was showing Emery what to buy for her, I'm sure. :)

Blurry, but cute daddy's pushing strollers

Owen trying on a hat. He is such a cute little guy.

All that shopping wore out Dave.

changing pad for baby's room

I made a changing pad cover for the mattress that goes on the changing table. At the store they are like 13 bucks.. for a cheap one. and of course i wanted one that matched her room... and babies r us didn't have plain white. like plain white was too much to ask?? so between what i thought was a steep price and the fact that none of them matched, i of course, made one.

my kids loved it for some reason.

hendrix just loved carrying the mattress around. i think he thinks it's his new 'big girl bed.'

and the back... not too exciting. but i'm a little proud of myself that i just figured out how to make it. and it only took like 45 minutes. not too bad for winging it. and yes-- that would be the baby sneaking into the picture while hendrix was trying to grab the whole thing to walk away with it.

busy week

It's been a busy week! I feel bad that my last post was about last Sunday, and it's almost Sunday again.

I hosted a double baby shower last night. I'm still amazed that it turned out. Not only was it for two girls, but it was a SURPRISE... and they BOTH were totally surprised. It's still hard for me to believe that nobody spilled the beans. But it was fun, and lots of people showed up, and they both got lots of diapers. And it wasn't even too much work for me since I had a few girls helping me hand out invites and get decorations.

And of course we've been working on the baby room.

And a far away shot of the crib skirt. it turned out HORRIBLE. ugh. At least from far away it looks fine.

And nothing better than seeing my two kids playing together. They've always gotten along great, but I still love to catch them playing so cutely together. And maybe they've had to learn to play with each other more lately since their mom is feeling really pregnant and crappy. :) what good kids.

Sunbeam!!! (And baby room)

My little sunbeam. Of course I thought to take a picture the very minute we are walking out the door for church. She already had her coat on over her cute little Christmas dress, but at least her coat is picture-worthy as well. I can't believe she's a Sunbeam. Geesh.

How in the world do you ever get TWO kids to look at the camera and smile at the same time??

Or not pop some food in their mouths?

Nursery Progress:
remember the stripes???

they're gone!!! (And a much prettier green)

Don't mind the mess... this is only PROGRESS, remember? and the turquoise picture is not going to be turquoise when I'm done with it-- we just decided to hang up the frame since we were hanging stuff up anyway and we know it's going right there. I'll take more pictures when the whole room is more put together. We are getting much closer, it's fun and exciting :)

Baby Names

Well.... I'm gonna let the cat out of the bag. A lot of you may know our baby names anyway, right? We seem to go back and forth between "Baby V" and "Baby M." so maybe writing all this down will clear things up for me. For a while I didn't want to tell people because I didn't want any opinions-- good or bad. But now I guess it's getting close enough and I'm stressing out enough that we haven't decided yet, that I might as well tell the world. For those of you that wait to name your baby til you 'see the baby...' good for you. i think that's crazy :)

Baby M is Micah. Micah has been THE girl name since we found out we were pregnant. We both REALLY like Micah. The funny thing is that the biggest thing I like about the name and my biggest concern are the same-- that it's a 'boy name.' I love boy names for girls-- (hence Quinn). But on the other hand, it's much more of a boy name than Quinn, and I've already had to clear things up about Quinn being a girl (like over the phone, etc.) But truthfully, I feel like I force myself to call her Micah. And I don't know if it's because I called her 'V' for too long.

Baby V is Veda. Remember the movie 'My Girl?' super old movie... ha. But that's how I thought of it. Maybe my one biggest concern with Veda is that people will mispronounce it? I've considered the spelling: Veyda, just to clear things up, but I just like it spelled Veda better. Would you all know how to say it?? I love that it's a "V" name since we tend to like more different letters-- and they make super cute nicknames. I like that it's a different enough name, yet people have heard of it. I think it's a super cute name and different and 'cool' enough.

Both names sound good with my other kid's names and with our last name and with the middle name we've chosen. But I am only EIGHT weeks away from pushing this little girl out and we don't have a name... kind of crazy for me. So feel free to tell me that you love my names, or hate them. And feel free to throw some new names out there too... We'll see if this clears things up for us at all.
