not yet

nope... I haven't had my baby. Sorry about the lack of posting. I'm sure you were all assuming I had the baby :)

I've been horrible about taking pictures since my mom got here. We've had a lousy couple of days. Quinn has been really sick, then of course Hendrix got sick AGAIN even though he was sick last weekend.... ugh. And now guess who has it?? yep.. me. It totally stinks. As if I don't have enough discomfort right now anyway. My kids are still coughing horribly, but we haven't had anyone throwing up since yesterday. And hopefully EVERYONE (Especially me) is better by Monday. I am tentatively scheduled for induction Monday night. It's just miserable to have a horrible cold and think about delivering a baby too.

Here's a picture my mom took on her camera. The only good one that either of us taken the last few days. At least my mom is here and helping. It's making this all a little easier :)

mom

my mom gets here in less than two hours. WOO HOO!!!!! I can't wait. And I am relieved that she'll be here (hopefully) for when this baby decides to come out. It'll be nice to not have to worry about dropping the kids off somewhere or having an overnight bag packed for them. Plus, my mom is awesome.

I just read an awesome quote:

Three things in human life are important. The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. & the third is to be kind.
-- Henry James

very profound... and true. I've told Quinn many times how important it is to be a nice person. And that there is little else that is more important than being nice. I hope that she remembers that. And maybe more importantly, I hope I remember that. :)

an oldie but goodie of hendrix.

He is so darling. I just love this little guy. Hard to believe he's not going to be 'the baby' after a few more days. He'll always be MY baby, of course.

weekend so far

Dave's sister and parents are in town for the weekend. Here's some pictures of what we've been up to:

Us and Krystal eating at Cafe Rio yesterday

me with a puffy face. I gotta get this baby out.

This morning we went to Powell's Candy Shop. Here's the whole gang standing outside.

And inside... :)

Happy Presidents Day weekend everyone. Hope you all get to eat some candy or something.

nice day

a few days ago we actually had NICE weather. It's gone now, but here are the pictures to prove that we actually went outside and enjoyed it while it was here.
Quinn was happy to dig in the garden

And Hendrix was happy to dig in the sandbox even though there is hardly any sand in it.

And Dave dug in the garden too. We kinda forgot about our carrots...

fire station and heaven

Quinn has already had a few field trips with her pre-school class. Every time there's a field trip I ask Quinn what she thinks of me coming (as a chaperone). She always laughs and thinks I'm ridiculous. After all-- preschool "isn't for mommies!!!" Anyway-- as her field trip to the fire station was coming up she had decided that she didn't want to go. Scared of fire-fighters? Or Dalmatians? So this morning I suggested that I go as well, and she assured me that it would make her feel better if I came. Unfortunately, it made her WAY anti-social. Wouldn't stand by the other kids, wouldn't participate, wouldn't be in the pictures with her class...
The first stop of the field trip was to Krispy Kreme's. (What a life, huh??)

And while the rest of her class put on their cute hats and stood together for a photo, Quinn hid under a table. Awesome.

The fire station was worse. She wouldn't let me put her down at all. (i know, Dave... I shouldn't be holding her). Anyway-- for the last ten minutes she finally agreed to let her teacher hold her instead. Thank goodness.

and man... I'm seriously in heaven. One of my friends gave me a gift certificate to Hawthorne Threads for a baby present. My fabric came today!! I would be sewing at this very moment if it wasn't all getting pre-washed.

crown and blanket

Grandma Marcia and Aunt Julie sent us a Valentine's Day package-- and in it was a crown for Quinn. I think she likes it :)

My friend, Courtney is doing this craft project to help women in third world countries. (sorry if I am totally explaining this wrong, Courtney). Anyway-- I keep sitting down to make stuff to donate to her and end up just making stuff for the baby instead. I sat down yesterday with this white minky thinking to make a few sets of burp rags and instead made the baby a quilt.

This is the only way I know how to quilt--- HUGE squares that are all the same size. No binding.. I just sewed it right sides together and flipped it and sewed the opening shut. Every time I try to bind something it turns out horrible. PLUS, I didn't even really quilt the top and bottom together. (and it's not actually that wrinkly and weird-- Hendrix just walked across it with his bike and I didn't re-smooth it)

the back side is black and white houndstooth--it's actually minky-- how cute is that?? my mom bought it for me last time she was here-- thanks mom :)

Before this picture I think Quinn said something like "wow mom!! That's cute. I need to use it." Then she threw the blanket off her bed and snatched the new blanket.

THIS is the beginnings of my friend's craft website. If you are interested in helping and donating handmade things there is an email address on the blog.

Valentine's Day Scavenger Hunt

I dd a little scavenger hunt for the kiddos today. I know it's not Valentine's until tomorrow, but I didn't think we'd have time tomorrow since our dinner/bath/bedtime schedule is pretty tight.

Quinn has been super excited since I told her we were going to do a scavenger hunt. It was pretty cute to watch her excitedly find the clues.

"That way Quinn!!"

I just drew simple pictures of where the next clue was (then wrote a clue too if she needed help since I'm no artist...)

Hendrix liked pretending to help, but mostly just ran after Quinn while she found the clues

She finally found the presents!! (Don't worry-- that big bag of beef jerky wasn't for Hendrix, it was for Dave) :)

poor little Hendrix got a little gypped-- good thing he is so little he didn't notice. He got a little baggie of treats (Which he DEVOURED in one sitting). I was going to get him something else at Target after my shower this week, but I didn't end up going, so he only got his treats. The sweet boy was perfectly happy with the candy :)

randoms from the weekend

Hendrix found a funny little seat in between the couches on Friday.

And Quinn thought she should probably sit on his lap

This is what happens to my family room after the kids play for 20 minutes. How am I gonna keep up with 3 mess makers??

a darling quilt that my friend Tricia made for the baby. I am not a quilter, so this is totally impressive to me. I'm sure Baby V/M will love it!! :)

feeling loved.

Thanks to my amazingly sweet friend Emily for throwing me a little shower tonight. And thanks to those of you who came-- it's so nice to feel loved and celebrated. Who knows why I'm all red... maybe because I just stuffed my face with greasy food?? It was so fun to get out-- thanks friends!!!

And speaking of amazingly nice friends, my friend Jan showed up at my door today with not one, but SIX brownie mixes. What a lifesaver :)

letters

Dear precious baby,
Thank you for turning over. I am so glad that you are head-down now and you don't have to be cut out of my belly. Please stay head down. Can't wait to meet you. Literally... I can't wait. And I forgive you in advance for the misery I am feeling now. I know it will be worth it once I see you sweet face.
Love, Mommy

Dear chiropractor,
Thank you for the hip adjustments I've been having the past week that probably have a lot to do with my baby no longer being breech. You are the best.
Thanks, Amber

Dear O.B.
As a doctor, you really should reconsider taking vacations-- EVER. Especially around the time when one of your patients is due to have a baby. And ESPECIALLY on the exact date when you could induce this specific patient. Thanks for being so kind when this patient started bawling her eyes out. It was sweet of you to not judge her emotional mess.
Thanks,
Amber

Dear Dave,
Thanks for having patience with your crazy wife. You are sweet to deal with her tears and emotional ups and downs. You are the best husband ever. You have been much too positive during all of this- it makes me look bad :)
Love, Am

Dear Mom,
It looks like we're gonna have time after you get here to go shopping and go to Cheesecake Factory after all. And I'm so happy that you'll be here to stay with the kids when I have the baby--it makes things much easier!! I was really hoping to have the baby before you got here, but since there is now little hope of that, we'll have to enjoy the few days after you get here before the baby does!!
Love, Am

Dear brownie mix,
Where are you when I need you? I really need some brownies today...
Love, Am

kids and owl

Hendrix.

It's almost like zero percent of my fashion sense has rubbed off of her.

I love that my kids like to play together. I hope it lasts :)

An owl i made for the baby. I saw it on Homemade by Jill's blog, although she got the tutorial from somewhere else. I made it to be flat at crinkly, instead of how the other tutorial did it. Also--I didn't use that lady's pattern, I thought it would be just as fast to hand draw an owl. But you should all make one... it's fun. And Jill's clever using a wipes package for the crinkly stuff inside, it totally worked. And obviously I didn't whip stitch it closed. Who's got the time for hand sewing?

just stuff

A onesie I made for the baby. She'll get to wear it if she actually is a she. Except Dave told me that it reminded him of Silence of the Lambs. I bet I'll NEVER think of that while deciding whether or not to put it on her.

Another one Quinn's awesome outfits. Pink leggings, purple skirt, orange shirt. nope-- we didn't go anywhere today :)

Here's the 36 week belly. See my belly button??? geesh... I must be feeling generous today. Or maybe because I got a haircut yesterday and feel a little better about myself :)

Just the kids reading books

Happy Birthday mom!!

Happy Birthday mom-- I hope you have an awesome day.

Thanks for teaching me so much. I couldn't have asked for a better mom.
You've taught me to have a good attitude (yet you are sensitive when I'm having a hard time doing that). I think it's one of the greatest things I remember learning from you growing up. YOU have such a positive attitude. You taught me very early on that I can choose how I feel. Thanks for a great life lesson.
You showed me the importance of being a good mother to my own kids. I'm grateful that I had you to learn from.
You are such a hard worker. When you are here, you are always cooking, cleaning, changing my kids diapers, doing the grocery shopping and laundry-- and all with a smile on your face. Like you thought it would be fun to fly all the way across the country to do my daily tasks. Plus, then you fly home to do the same things at your house (without poopy kids to change), and go to work (to change grown-up's diapers at the hospital) to buy another plane ticket to come visit again.
I can talk to you about anything. You truly are my best friend (other than Dave). Thanks for always being there for me to vent to and cry too (a lot of crying while I'm pregnant and hormonal). And thanks for always being there to laugh with me about my kids. It helps me to get out of bed knowing that I can call you first thing.
I love you a LOT and hope that you have a very special birthday. Can't wait to see you in 19 DAYS!!!!

36 weeks

Phew. Somehow I've made it to 36 weeks. Went to the doctor today. She's still breech, so cross your fingers and pray that she flips around in the next few weeks. I've gained MASSIVE amounts of weight. In fact, I didn't know it was possible to gain that much in two weeks. I had Dave take a picture of me today.. but sorry, I'm not sharing. :) Just imagine me bigger... in my face. Can't wait to see how I look in 4 more weeks. Awesome, I bet. But here's a picture of someone REALLY cute. With her hair trimmed up. Hopefully last trim before the baby comes.

I'm gonna try and get the nursery AND all of my organizing projects done before the baby comes. We'll see. My energy/motivation/strength is running out. Hopefully some pictures of the nursery soon. And hopefully it starts looking better-- I've been a bit discouraged with it lately. Maybe I've been spending too much time sitting around eating chocolate instead of focusing on her room :)
