our backyard

our steal of a deal craigslist find this week. this climber. it's missing it's slide, but my kids don't seem to notice. 20 dollars, and he delivered it for free 20 minutes after i called him.

Our garden is coming along.
yes-- we garden in ballerina skirts.

Carrots!!!

our mess of delicious peas. Three rows is not enough... we gobble them all up every day.

mmm... fresh peas

the strawberry that we are going to pick and eat tomorrow. i'm surprised we are getting any at all this year since i just planted them, but we'll get a few.

and the prettiest part of the garden. the broccoli.

jet plane

Here's Quinn singing 'leaving on a jet plane.' and yes-- I tell her 100 times a day to not talk like a baby, that's why she brings it up mid-song.

pillow

this is one of the first crafty things I made after I was married. I didn't even havea sewing machine yet. It's been in my formal living room and has been needing to be replaced very badly. (It was cute at the time, but not really any more) Plus my kids play in there and lay their heads on it all the time and it's covered in buttons. And one of my nephews tore off a button 2 years ago and I never fixed it.

I've been wanting to make a linen/gathered pillow ever since I saw THIS on a blog. Here's my version. Her's is cuter, but mine will do, and is a BIG improvement from the old pillow at least :)

90 degrees

Played yesterday with some of our friends. Here's Emery talking intently to Quinn. (making little sense, but it was super cute and Quinn enjoyed it, even though she would look at me laughing and ask what he said)

the cute little dude

my kids LOVED baby Owen. And how can they help it-- he's the cutest ever

I love how he looked at Quinn:

then Hendrix:

More of Hendrix. I didn't get a picture of the whole group... sad. Carson and Cade were there too.

and even though it was 90 degrees outside I think the moms spent more time in the water than the kids. go figure. Quinn wouldn't even let me put her suit on.

elephant

A sure way to get some time to clean the house: get out an annoyingly loud toy that I've had hidden for over a year. I'm sure you're wondering if Quinn is always this kind to Hendrix... this was following some stern advice that the toy would be put away again for a long time if she didn't give him turns. But I'll just say that she's always that sweet. (and the dancing about to the music?? That's a daily occurrence. And no-- your computer isn't broken-- that LOUD clicking and circus music is coming from that toy. But at least I got some books and laundry put away.

trucks and drums

Hendrix loves pulling this truck around. Thanks Grandma Marcia... it's been a great christmas present

Here's Hendrix happily playing at the park before getting clobbered by a 7 foot tall man who wasn't watching where he was going and walking VERY fast.

Quinn playing some drums

Sometimes I love how girly Quinn is... in her skirt and necklace and bracelet.

singing loudly and playing a xylophone

"Ta-da!!!"

Happy Father's Day to the dad's in my life.
Mike (Dave's dad)

My dad-- love you dad! Can't wait to see you in a few weeks!
(either can my kids)

And all I have to say about this hunk: my kids are LUCKY.

sewing for the kids

I love to sew for my kids (obviously). Hendrix has decided that he loves anything with a tag on it. He holds onto a tag with one hand, sucks on his finger and goes to sleep. I find him walking around with his finger in his mouth anytime he finds a tag. He's even taken a nap with a towel bib because he found it right before nap time and didn't want to part with it. I decided to make him a taggie-- so he wouldn't drag his nice blankie around everywhere, getting it dirty, tripping on it. But... he wanted NOTHING to do with it. I'd hand it to him and he would throw it on the floor and shake his head no. ha...

Until this morning.

And Quinn as needed a new friend DESPERATELY. The first one I made, Daisy, got way too much love and she was made out of off white fleece (my first mistake). So the second one I made, Eloise, I made from gray fleece, which was WAY better. Except Quinn sweats a LOT when she sleeps and I can't get Eloise to smell good for more than a couple days at a time. So Here is the latest 'friend,.' A mouse. And no name yet... she's thinking about naming her Susan. :)

more from yesterday

this is why Hendrix is always muddy when we are outside. We have a sand box that they love to play in, but if I'm even near the garden both kids would rather dig in that-- and Hendrix loves it especially right after I've watered and it's nice and muddy.

Quinn has actually been letting me take her picture. So here are some cute ones of my girl.

She is in the middle of singing me "happy birthday." See the cupcake with the candle?

Zoo

Went to the zoo yesterday.

Hendrix in the stroller... even though I felt like neither child spent much time in it-- I just pushed an empty stroller while holding one child and holding the hand of the other (Hendrix was in the sling, I don't have 3 hands...)

Quinn had to wear her hippo shirt to the zoo.

We went with cousins.. Caleb, Ellie, Levi, (and Grace who isn't pictured.)

The kiddos riding the tiger

I should do a line-up of all the pictures I have of Quinn on this thing. I have many :)

freezer paper again

I made myself something... can you believe it? I loved the flower on Quinn's dress so much, I decided to use it to make myself a shirt. I don't like how big of a space is in between the flowers, but it was my first attempt doing something this large... you live and learn.
HERE is a link for a freezer paper tutorial. it's super fun.

it's summer.

We busted out the pool today. I thought Hendrix would LOVE every minute of it. For some reason he didn't take his afternoon nap, so he wasn't so sure about it. Quinn on the other hand, who usually is not my water lover.... loved it.

See how the bottom of his (too tight) swim trunks are wet-- that was the wettest he got all afternoon.

And here is Quinn proving me wrong again. She usually HATES splashing water-- yet she ran through the sprinkler for a good half hour.

Have I mentioned before how Hendrix sucks on his finger? Usually just to go to sleep, but he's been doing it a lot more lately. (plus he was really sleepy today). But I think it's cute and sweet, so here's a picture

I love how any time we are outside, Hendrix ends up with mud on his face/clothes/arms.

mmm... popsicles.

Some words of wisdom from your smart friend Amber:
If you have a bottle of this sunscreen lying around, and you have a 14-month old, don't leave it lying around. Because he might pick it up. And he might put it in his mouth. And he might accidentally squirt some into his mouth. And you might have to call poison control. And you might have to answer an embarrassing question like "How did he get a hold of the suncreen." I'm just saying.

(Hendrix is fine by the way.)
