headbands

Quinn had a lot of hair as a baby. She could wear hair clips and hair ties almost right after she was born.

see that cute little mini hair clip?? so cute.

hendrix had some pretty awesome locks as a newborn too.

Veda is by no means BALD, but has less hair than i kmow what to do with. so what do you do when you have a 'bald' baby? make headbands of course!! i've made Veda a 'couple,'

don't worry... I didn't make those all today. I did make these yo-yo style ones today though.

I like small flowers on little babies, THIS tutorial is awesome. THIS is an okay yo-yo tutorial, although I don't fold over the edges since I usually cover the center. For the yo-yos I made for Veda, I traced a can of beans for the larger yo-yo. just to give you a size idea :)
and THIS is a good tutorial for the silk kind. (although I make mine much smaller and only two layers)

baskets make her sad (and poop)

Veda does not like sitting in baskets. On the day of her photo shoot, this basket was our last set-up. Veda was already worn out, but we tried it anyway. Not only did she pee all over the blanket, but she SHOT poop across the photographer's floor (and obviously all over the blanket and basket as well.) So we gave up and decided to try it again the next morning after we did the pictures with the whole family. The next day didn't go any better. This picture was taken after the family session. She still wasn't having it-- even though we let her keep her clothes on. And it would have been so cute....

"my feed fish"

note to self: never leave Hendrix downstairs my himself. I came back downstairs after literally two minutes of leaving him alone... and he said: "my feed fish." boy did he... all of it.

he had even put the lid back on the food??

gross, i know. this was taken after i scooped the poor fish out. i'll let you know if they survive this ordeal. you gotta love two-year-olds.

The sad thing, is that this wouldn't have happened if Quinn had been home. she is at preschool this morning. she always makes sure Hendrix DOESN'T do things like this. she just might be a better mamma than me! :)

sweet Veda and Dave

just a little bit of sweetness for the day.

and a shout out to Dave for changing the blog for me. He's got a million other important things to do, so it was super nice of him to take the time for little ol' me. I really am one lucky gal. We've had our fair share of stress the past couple of years. Getting laid off, then starting his own thing has been not only a huge blessing, but also a lot of stress. I'm so thankful for a husband who works really hard for us. And as stressed out as he sometimes is, he's still awesome to come home at 5 every day and love the kids with all he's got. Sometimes I'm ungrateful that there is little left for me-- and I feel bad for that! I know I'm lucky, and that we are blessed. I need to count my blessings when I'm feeling ungrateful!! And then he goes and does something super nice for me all on his own. Now that's love.

And someday, when things slow down a little from life and having a bunch of kids, maybe we'll actually be in "glorious Hawaii" together. (he obviously didn't actually get that shirt from Hawaii-- he got it from Old Navy) There is honestly no one else I would rather be with. Ever.

"my take bath"

Hendrix say's "my" instead of me. He also says things like "hold you me." (probably because I would ask him: "You want me to hold you?"). It's cute-- to hear things like "my play with this," "my want fruit snack" etc...
anyway-- he pulled Veda's bath out and got in it yesterday. "My want rubber ducky" after he said he wanted a bath. little nut.

And this is my FAVORITE picture that we got of Veda from the photo shoot. It's now on the right side bar too. :) I also will always remember how hard it was to even get this shot. She was NOT staying asleep easily and every time we tried to take this blanket off she woke up or startled. Plus she peed like three times on this backdrop. But worth it-- such a perfect picture.

Grandma and Grandpa

it's true. she does love Grandpa and Grandma. Today is a sad day... they went home.
There were some mega tears from Hendrix this morning. I had to have a talk with him first thing in the morning because he asked for Grandpa. When I told him that Grandpa was on an airplane back to Michigan, the tears started flowing "I want Grandpa!!" It was very sad. Hendrix definitely made a new buddy this past week. Instead of coming to me to be held, he went to Grandpa. Hendrix also learned very quickly that if he followed Grandpa into the pantry, he would get a jelly bean, and that he could get fruit snacks on demand... any time of day :)
hendrix also learned that grandpa would push him around (mommy never does)

and instead of getting just chicken nuggets for lunch, Grandpa would get them a juice too. so lucky...

We also went to lunch or dinner a lot-- which meant that Hendrix got to play my iphone a lot. also-- really lucky :)

this is Hendrix and Grandpa at the mall playing.

Veda in a new onesie from grandma.

sweet, happy girl. She was SO good this past week. we went out and about a lot, and she was an ANGEL. Slept in the car- and usually the whole time we were out. I think there was one time all week that I had to nurse her while we were out somewhere. that's pretty awesome. plus, she had TWO nights of sleeping for 6 hours straight!! woo hoo for me!!

and here's my mom. doing service with a smile :)

... and she changed lots of diapers. There are many to change around here!

grandpa meeting Veda

a healthy and rested Amber since I got so much help this week.

we miss you guys already. THANK YOU for coming this week! It was so fun to have you. The kids had a blast and made some lasting memories of having super fun Grandparents. Thanks also for helping me so much. I'm (obviously) still trying to figure out having three kids. It was nice to have two more sets of hands around to help out. Thanks for getting us groceries (every day), and doing my laundry, and changing diapers, and playing outside with my kids, and doing odd jobs around my house, and working on my garden, and taking us out for yummy food, and helping with baths/bedtime, and making dinner every night-- and cleaning it up. Thanks for holding the baby so I could take a shower, and reading the kids books, and playing with play doh, and buying my kids new clothes and Easter outfits, and thanks for our Apple TV, and holding the baby so I could get my haircut and go to the dentist. You guys are THE BEST!!! (come back REALLY soon-- maybe as soon as you've recovered from us running you ragged)

sisters and a smile

the girls were both wearing little ballerina shirts from grandma... too bad you can't ever see Quinn's.

that's one proud sister

reading her a book about bunnies. life doesn't get much better than babies and bunnies

and a little smile!!

if it were possible to love Veda TOO much, I'd say we succeeded :)

veda's blessing

We blessed Veda today.
we've ended up blessing all the kids at home since my parents are usually here the first week of April (and since all the kids are born in March)
I'm horrible at getting group shots. Here's the group.. nicely posed

my awesome mom who handled EVERYTHING today. seriously.. i feel like I didn't even help. My mom made all the yummy food and cleaned up the house.

quinn really wanted to help too. Here she is 'helping' by counting the slices of cheese

Me and my cute mom

We did a few birthday things for X today since he saw Dave's side of the family today. Hendrix and Julia

and look-- Hendrix and Julia LAST year at his birthday party. So cute.

birthday party!!

We had a little birthday party for Hendrix yesterday. Here he is with his cake. Fancy, I know. I always out-do myself :)

You'll never guess what Hendrix got for his birthday.... any guesses?? and boy do I love his eyelashes.

hehe... and you caught us... we were watching conference while he opened presents. it's all about multi-tasking

lining up his new loot

new playset

for the kid's birthdays we decided to get them a big present from us and from my parents. We got them a playset for the backyard. I was sick of doing treasure hunts, but wanted to have them find it in a fun way-- so I made a treasure map (I know, I know.. I'm an amazing artist).

the kids while following the map

and enjoying their new toy! too bad we had one day of awesome weather, now it's cold again...

Veda

Veda had a well check today. Almost 11 pounds!!! 10.14lbs puts her in the 85th percentile.

She's nice and healthy.

My parents are on a plane to come to my house RIGHT NOW!!!!
Big day for Hendrix tomorrow--we're celebrating his birthday. Maybe I'll take a picture or two.
AND-- Veda started smiling. Official-non-gas-smiles. They have been looking-at-mommy-i-love-her smiles. And I've been too selfishly enjoying them to grab my camera. :)
