freezer paper crazy

I made a couple of freezer paper stenciled shirts yesterday. I'm kind of proud of myself because they were probably the most detailed things I've done.

A truck shirt for Hendrix.

The stencil was based off of THIS cute firetruck

I think he likes it :)

I made this dress too. You can get the tutorial off MADE.

The flower stencil was a flower idea I saw on THIS dress.

and maybe some pictures of the kids wearing these later. I know it's not as exciting to see them on the floor :)

saturday

Had a picnic at the park this afternoon.

I wish this was a better picture of his face. haha... sometimes sisterly love isn't appreciated

feeding the geese

This is a picture of our neighbor's garden. :) just kidding.. it's ours.

I wish it hadn't been so windy today. You can really hear it in this video. Hendrix laughs like a MAN sometimes. And he LOVES water.. .even splashing in his face or eyeballs.

ps. Dave got Hendrix dressed this morning-- hence the 2T t-shirt. but thanks babe... love you-- Hendrix looks good in anything :)

park

Some pictures from the park today.

hehe... this is the best picture I got of their shoes. oops.

Sewing

I am working on making THIS for the kids. I'm not done with it, but the kids really wanted to play with it this morning, so I let them... exposed seams and all. I haven't decided what to put in the last square yet. (I don't think I want to do the construction zone like in the tutorial)

Hendrix reading his favorite book

And speaking of projects. I'm going to make THIS. Today. She's a genius.

did you know?

... Hendrix started throwing tantrums. It's super fun. And why so early? I thought I had 4 more months before this started. They are nothing major. He just throws his whole body on the floor, cries, and bangs his head. (All while looking cute) :)

... Hendrix seems obsessed with trucks. I'm sure it only seems that way since it's the only word he can communicate. But he definitely likes them a lot. If you start reading him a book about a puppy, he'll let you read one page before he puts it on the ground and goes off to find his truck book.

... last but not least, did you know Hendrix got new cons? Not only did he get these super cute blue cons, but Quinn got a pair JUST like it. I don't know if that's an 'okay' thing to do -- dress your little boy and little girl the same, but I thought they were too cute to pass up. (and they both have BLACK ones that match, so I thought blue would be okay too) I'll try to get a picture of them together in their matching shoes (Quinn wasn't cooperating today)

weaned against my will

How did this:

Turn into this so fast!!!

it's all but official. Hendrix is weaned from nursing. He did nurse on ONE side ONCE today... but it was first thing in the morning so I could trick him into it. But that was all I could get. He literally weaned himself overnight. He went from nursing 4 times a day a week ago-- to nothing. (it took me two months to wean Quinn-- and I was TRYING to wean her--also at 14 months) There are many selfish reasons why I didn't want him to stop nursing... like how nursing is great birth control for me, i don't have my period, i can eat whatever i want and not exercise, etc. But he's obviously old enough (14 months). Although he won't drink milk-- any suggesstions? I tried mixing pediasure into his milk today to see if he liked the taste better, but it didn't work. I am quite sad... but I can smell more freedom since we've never even given him a bottle I've been pretty tied to him for his whole life. (but to be honest, I'd rather not have the freedom and keep nursing him) :)
bye bye sweet baby... hello tantrum throwing toddler.

saturday at the park

We went to the park this afternoon (and brought the camera, obviously). we took some cute pictures. In fact, they are all so cute that they each deserve their own blog post, but that's not going to happen. So here they are all at once, just promise to enjoy them as if they were the only picture today :)

Hendrix touching the clouds.

I LOVE this picture. the sky, the grass, my baby

and thanks to dave for editing some of these for me.
and ps.. YES, I am in fact wearing skinny jeans. It's something I never thought I'd do... I'm still not convinced I'm pulling them off as well as all those teenagers out there, but I thought it was worth a shot :)

randoms from the week

Hendrix playing outside with his buddy Eloise.

Hendrix is starting to like having books read to him. Quinn came out of womb loving books, but Hendrix hasn't shown much interest until lately.

And this is hands down is favorite book... (about trucks, of course).

Quinn has a new love: watercolors. She asks to paint all day and will whip up 5-10 masterpieces in one sitting.

Some of them include paintings of the letter "Q"

all to get his hands on some cheerios

I wasn't watching when I turned around and saw Hendrix on top of the coffee table.

"oops-- caught me mom!"

"Truck"

wow... it sounds like you all are ready for me to have another baby :)
sorry... I'm not cooking one yet.

But looking at this guy makes me excited to see how #3 could possibly be any cuter.

Speaking of cute, Hendrix has started saying 'truck.' It doesn't sound quite like that, more like "tru." And he can often be found holding one truck (or one in each hand). I'll try and get a video.

babies grow up.... (maybe?)

Last night was rough. Quinn decided that she was ready for a big girl bed. So before bedtime, Dave turned her crib into a toddler bed. I knew this day was coming, but I still wasn't ready. Or ready for the emotions of seeing her crib now a toddler bed.

Here it is all transformed.

THEN, while Dave was putting Quinn to bed, I went to nurse Hendrix and put him to bed... except HE WOULDN'T NURSE. what??!!!! of course, I started bawling. Both babies growing up in one night??!! there have been times that Hendrix hasn't wanted to nurse before, but it's been because we are in public or there is too much going on, NEVER when it's right before bed. So i cried, then turned on the light to read him some books to fill up the nursing time.

So... having told those two sad tales, it turns out that they were both a fluke. Quinn was up 20 times in the night, and finally at 4 am asked to have her crib back (which I will happily oblige). Then Hendrix woke up this morning and nursed like normal. So... it looks like I'm going to make it. :)
