"But it's Christmas right now, mom!"

I cut Quinn's hair!! Sorry, no pictures. I tried to take one, but she needs a bath and her face cleaned... so I'll just take a picture tomorrow :) And thanks, Megan, the lollipop totally worked to get her through the haircut!!! I didn't slice my finger open this time.

Quinn is pretty excited for Christmas, obviously. I have to keep telling her that she can't open presents yet because it's not Christmas yet. I ALWAYS get the response, "But it's Christmas right now mom!!!"
I have told her on a number of occasions that it's "Christmas-TIME" but she's two... so she doesn't get it.

just Hendrix's chubby cheek

the kids were riding the bike together yesterday. it seemed like a great time to get a cute picture.... except this was all I managed.

the wreath I made for our front door. I used THIS TUTORIAL. I think it turned out pretty great, but boy was it a lot of circles!

Gingerbread house

we made a gingerbread house last night. Quinn could HARDLY WAIT. She would have put it together at the store if I had let her. She asked me about it every five minutes... oh, to be a child :)

I'm always amazed by how careful and precise she is when she makes stuff.

hooray! actually I think she said "ta da!!!" when we were done. :)

and yep.. .she's wearing a ballerina skirt with a bright green shirt and navy leggings. :)

countdown presents

I don't know how many of you remember this bad boy that I made last Christmas:

So I have MANY days this month to fill up pockets with little gifts and treats. I guess I'm a sucker for homemade toys, because here are a few of the things that the kids have gotten.

balls!! Hendrix's has a little jingle bell inside his... he loves it :)

I made Quinn these Christmas shirts. Not perfect, but since she'll only wear them a total of three times they are good enough!!

felt Mr. Potato Head. I guess I should have taken more photos of this to show you how it works. All the pieces velcro onto the potato. I used THIS example. Except instead of making a pocket on the back of him, I just did a simple draw string bag to store the whole thing in, plus the accessories.

She hasn't gotten the potato head yet... but she's also gotten a handful of other things: stickers, tootsie rolls, etc. She checks the pockets of the countdown at least 5 times a day, even though she only gets one thing. (I wonder who she gets that from??!!) I also wrapped up all of her Christmas books and she gets to open one each day. I don't have 25 Christmas books though, so in another week she might be a little disappointed when she doesn't get a book that day... but come on, I can only do so much :)

laughing

daddy sure knows how to get this boy to laugh!!!

first snow

we had our first considerable snow last night. Quinn and I were outside by 8 am.

it was sadly to cold to build a snow man. Quinn can't wait to build one... or watch me build one :)

"Where did my legs go?" (just for you dave)

just some random shots of my favorite little boy

this one just because he's having a good hair day

i just kiss him all day. see why?? he started giving kisses. it's the CUTEST THING to ever happen in my life. (almost?)

saturday

our friends, Jason and Christy (and Owen and Emery) came over yesterday. Here is me and Emery after giving him a little hair cut. He's such a handsome boy!!!

Quinn and Emery had tons of fun playing together, but I never got a good picture of them together. These were the best-- Quinn being a doctor and taking his blood pressure

and checking his ears.

Me and Christy. Maybe next time we'll have to get a picture of the husbands?? I don't know how we forgot to do that... or how we'll get them to agree to it next time :)

"I love my mom."

Quinn knows probably 85% of her books. She'll know enough to read it to herself, even if she just describes the pictures (or makes up her own words). It's been nice that she can read her books on her own again. anyway.... i overheard her making up words to a book yesterday, and it sounded like this:
I love my mom (title)
opens the book
I love my mommy
turns the page
oh, how I love my mommy
turns the page
I love my mommy
turns the page
oh, how I love my mommy
turns the page
I love my mom.
turns the page
the end.

hendrix

first of all.. thanks for all your comments on my last post! (Even though most of you were no help at all...) :) i guess you'll just have to wait to see what happens. since I don't know yet either!!

and second... I took 1,000 pictures of Hendrix today, and 998 of them were super cute. I won't post that many, but here's a few of my photogenic boy.

check out Q in the background... hilarious

don't you love when they teach each other things?? except Quinn one-upped him by actually LICKING the sliding door

he's been doing this nose scrunch the past few days... i'm glad i finally caught it on camera

these next few make me want to laugh just looking at him laugh. his laugh is a lot of times a scream/laugh... see his wide open mouth?? That's a scream

sorry about the messy face, but I loved this shot of his tooth. and his blue eyes. thanks dave, for passing those on

haha.... this face kills me.

I think he was getting sick of pictures??? and you are too??

hair

okay.... I need about 30 of you to tell me how much you like my long hair before I do something drastic... like this:

I don't know if I'm just in a rut... feeling old... feeling frumpy... or what. but I see pictures of me like this:

and forget why I've spent the last 3 years growing my hair back out. seriously... it has taken me three years to get it back, am I really ready to commit to that?? or will I love it short and be grateful to not have my kids ripping my hair out all day?
