random stuff since last Thursday

My mother informed me this morning that I haven't blogged since last Thursday. So here's what we've been up to:

Preschool officially starts Thursday. Today was orientation though- -and since Daddy was with us today we decided to celebrate today. I asked Quinn what she wanted special for lunch. without hesitation she said "a quesadilla!!" (I guess I need to branch out on what I make the kids for lunch). So we went to Taco Bell as a family to celebrate Quinn starting preschool. What an appropriate and cheap way to celebrate.

X enjoying his lunch.

I'm also making pickles. If any of you know Dave, you know that he LOVES pickles. We have had an overabundance of cucumbers in our garden and he's been asking me to make pickles. I finally gave in. Last night as I was finishing and putting them in the fridge Dave said "oh man, we should have taken pictures." yes... he does love pickles. Here's a picture.

And a changing pad I made for my friend Chelsea who was in town this weekend. She has the cutest little twins ever. These changing pads are the best thing ever. I'm sorry if I never made you one for your baby, I couldn't live without mine.

stuff

Here's Marty and Quinn-o. They are alive and happy little fish. And Quinn is absolutely in love with them. She talks to them all the time in a baby voice saying "Hi, fishy, fishy, fishy. I love you fishy fishy!!"

A couple of freezer paper shirts I made for Quinn yesterday. She IS starting pre-school, so she needed some new school clothes, right?

And this skirt to match the butterfly shirt

Quinn in her new fishy shirt. She was being totally uncooperative for a picture. She also got a haircut today-- not that you can tell from the photo. Stinker

For our 'craft day' at church I am going to be helping the ladies make these- so I made a few for an example.

and I guess I'm feeling better-- look at all of this sewing and haircutting and freezer papering going on :)

big girl bed fun

the kids playing on Quinn's new big girl bed (found it on craigslist for $20!! not the mattress, just the frame. and only had to paint it)
The kids think it is the awesomest new toy ever. Quinn's new room is still awaiting some paint, so no big girl bed for her quite yet.

Hendrix getting some sisterly love

It's all fun and games for a minute, then he wants out

seriously-- he wants her to get off

and he obviously doesn't get why I'm just taking pictures and not saving him from his sister

check out those cute toes... and tons of bandaids. if she gets a mosquito bite it requires a bandaid

(and oh-- that first picture, I made his belt. i have two more in the works, so when I finish them all I'll take a picture of all three)

Happy Birthday Julie!!!!

It's my sister, Julie's birthday today. The crazy (and awesome) thing about my sister is that it's HER birthday, yet we get a package in mail. Here are some pictures of my kids in their new clothes.

Love ya Julie- I hope your day is filled with happiness and laughter. (kind of like this...)

it's been hot....

Just us hanging out in the backyard yesterday.

Playing with a bowl of water can keep these two entertained for a LONG time.

Hendrix with a whole grape in his mouth. not a good idea. at least not until he gets a molar or two.

sorry, Quinn... haha...

park and dancing

the kids and I went to the park this morning. i was actually feeling decently well, so we took advantage and went to the park.

we went to the park by Levi's house, so we picked him up on our way. our friends Kelli and Morgan were there too, but that was just lucky.

I think the kids were happy to get out. After weeks of a sick mommy and a potty training little girl, we've spent lots of time at home.

the kids dancing. (kind of) hendrix was head-nodding at least

Hendrix learning to say 'no.' why do they have to learn that? At least HEndrix's 'no' is still very sweet.

best day ever (for Quinn)

the priceless look on Quinn's face is because sitting right beside her are her two new goldfish. She got goldfish because she is potty trained. Yes, my friends, she has learned to poop in the potty. Boy do I love this crazy girl. She named her fish Marty and Quinn-o. (I'm just grateful that she didn't steal any of the baby names we've been throwing around lately.) And hopefully a better picture of the actual fish later.

potty chart

She can do it!! woo hoo!!! It really only took that one HORRIBLE MISERABLE IMPOSSIBLE day. the next day she finally went once in the potty and a lightbulb went off in her head. She's had only TWO accidents in the last 4 days (and one of those I was in the shower....)

unfortunately, she has yet to go #2 in the potty yet. If any of you have tips for that let me know.

park and box

My good friend Audra is in town so we met at a park this morning. Here are me and all the kids (yes-- most are hers). The picture of her and I didn't turn out cute... bummer (Audra if yours is good email it to me) :) And for some reason Quinn was being a crazy.

And just the kiddos sitting in a box. Hendrix was making some silly faces.

Not the most interesting video-- but you have to hear how he says 'bye bye,' for it might be the cutest thing that's ever happened.

and ps... LOTS of progress with the potty training today. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe she can go to preschool afterall :)

potty training sucks

Day one:
No diaper ALL day
4 pees on the carpet
6 pees in her clothes
0 pees in the potty
1,000 tears

Day two:
screaming tantrum, BEGGING for a diaper that lasted 30 minutes
0 pees in potty
(but the days only half over...)

numero tres ya viene

I know I haven't been blogging a lot lately. This is my excuse:

Summer

Yesterday we went on our friends, Jason and Christy's boat. We had a LOT of fun. Here are Emery and Quinn sitting together on the boat.

Dave-- busting it up on the wakeboard

the fam, plus Emery :)

The kids both seemed to enjoy the water even though it was FREEZING. I think I dipped in to my chest and that's all I could handle of the freezing water.

Dave holding CUTE baby Owen.

Hendrix took his afternoon nap on the boat. He's such a good boy.

Quinn and Emery holding hands down the stairs at their house after. So cute. And geesh... look how Emery is 4 shades darker than Quinn. He must be Jason's son :)
