adventures of a climber

"Peek-a-boo mom!!"

"hmmm.... I bet I could think of a way to have more fun with this chair."

"Maybe if I put my knee up here like this..."

"And if I climb all the way here like this..."

"yep!! Way more fun that peek-a-boo!"

"Wait... how do I get down?"

"Thanks for the help mom.... going down is more scary."

it's not....

I've had two people tell me happy birthday for hendrix because of that last post. it's not his birthday, I just finished the banner I made for his party so I hung it up to take a picture. his birthday is at the end of NEXT month :)

babies, books and banners

chris and sarah had their baby!!

sometimes he's creative in his attempts to look out the window

the Happy Birthday banner I made for Hendrix's birthday party. I decided to make it match his birthday party colors and just thought "if I want one to match EVERY birthday I'll just make another one!" nope... I'm not making another one. We'll just have blue and red birthday parties from now on :)

made this little cloth book for the x man. Tutorial HERE

I made up some of my own pages though since I didn't like all of her's. Plus I just top stiched around the outside instead of her way. I thought it would look cute once the jeans frayed a little

just long enough to take some pictures before quinn grabbed it.

more freezer paper stuff

more freezer paper stenciling... it's so fun. i can't stop.
a shirt for hendrix with the boy from the Rocket logo

a Rocket shirt for Dave. (Rocket is the name of Dave's new company...) we also made a rocket shirt for Dave's brother, Chris. (his birthday was yesterday)

the cutest robot shirt ever for Hendrix. This will seem even cuter when you see his birthday party invitations. This shirt is actually to wear to his party.

this isn't stenciled. There's just nothing cuter than one of my kids in a sleeper made by Grandma Marcia.

Quinn's favorites

quinn has LOVED to wash dishes lately. she'll even finish eating quickly because she wants to get down and wash the dishes. it's kind of nice because my kitchen stays cleaner. she has me walk around finding anything that she could possibly wash. so immediately after every meal she washes the dishes... hopefully this lasts for a few years

another favorite: eating brownies

another favorite: this sparkly dress from Grandpa Dan. She wants to wear it EVERY Sunday. :)

this might be too much information for you, but I think it's funny. Quinn has been slightly constipated lately so we've been feeding her a lot of prunes. When she's trying hard to go potty she will ask me for a prune thinking that it will immediately help her push it out. She's become slightly obessed with things that will help her poop. when she's playing with her toy food she is constantly asking me things like
"do tomatoes help me poop??"
"Will donuts help me poop??"
"do peas help me poop?"
it's only a matter of time before she says something like that VERY LOUDLY in public :)

"look mom! no hands!"

this doesn't make me nervous at all....

and a couple of hendrix trying to figure out how to use a phone

honest Abe

I made Hendrix this Abe Lincoln shirt. See mom?? my mom thought I was crazy when I told her about it. ha. but it's cute, huh?

Tutorial and image link HERE
a few of my own tips that I've learned from freezer paper stenciling lately:
always do a second coat of paint--even if you don't think it needs it.
heat seal the paint with a warm iron (after it's dry and the stencil's off) some of the textile paint i've used says to do this, some don't-- but DO it- you'll be glad you did :)

kids

**first of all this potty chair has NEVER had potty in it-- so it's clean. otherwise I wouldn't just let my kids play with it!!**

Don't you love how kids parallel how they play with real life? Quinn was pretending that this dog had to throw up... in her potty chair.

i love how you can catch of a glimpse of hendrix laughing in this one.

and don't worry about it-- Quinn's only wearing a 12 month shirt. my mom bought it for her LAST Easter hoping that it would fit her. yep... and it still does :)

Quinn thought it was HILARIOUS when the potty got stuck on the dog's head

the little man

he might potty train before his sister at this rate.

a little naughty

I get him down from this position at least 30 times a day.

drumroll please....

Here they are. not 100% complete, but almost. They both still need a little more stuffing and to be sewn shut. Hopefully they will make both my kids have a happy birthday this year!!

Quinn's:

Hendrix's:

I was trying to show how huge this one is. Ha... you'll probably get it more when you see a picture of one of us on it.

sibling fun

the things I let them get away with. at least they were having fun-- and no one got hurt (this time...)

catch up

The day before Valentine's after Quinn and I 'heart-attacked' Dave's desk, Quinn said to me: "Mommy, will you make me something for ValentiMe's Day??" ha... how could I resist that? Why, yes Quinn, yes I will.

So in addition to this lollipop that I gave her...

I made her this kitty. I patterned it after the doll I made her for Christmas. I originally intended to make her a mouse, but when it was done it definitely looked more like a cat. And she lovingly named her 'Eloise." (I also made her a cute little bag, but that didn't seem to get in any pictures...)

Hendrix got some new boats to play with in the bath (come on... he's too young for chocolate)

Hendrix loves to play this keyboard. Hopefully we have a little musician on our hands. and yes, Christmas pj's... it's Christmas year-round in our home.

He seriously loves to look out the window.

I made this garland to decorate for Hendrix's birthday.

And while I've been making Hendrix's, Quinn has been asking me to make one for her birthday... so here's hers. The strands will just be single, they were just hanging up in the craft closet like.... but hopefully you get the idea. And if not, I'll be taking pictures at their birthday parties. And boy oh boy-- invisible thread is a nightmare (but kind of cool at the same time)
And HERE'S where I got the idea-- you can see a picture of how they will look hung up.
