Pistachio dress

I made a lousy attempt to get a pic of Quinn in the dress I made her. (it fits her!!!) It was first thing in the morning, so she has a lovely rats nest in the back of her undone hair and one sock on. But at least she looks cute in the dress :)

ready to JUMP!!

about to eat some breakfast with weirdly a different sock on.

first thing this morning she asked me for some pretzels. after a minute I realized that she wanted them to put in the pocket of this dress :)

more with elastic thread

Here's a couple more things I've made with elastic thread. It really is so fun. I haven't tried this dress on Quinn yet-- but it BETTER fit her just right. I showed her the dress before it was done and she pointed out that it was 'pistachio.' yep... silly girl, it sure is pistachio color. I wish you could feel the fabric... it's super lightweight-- kind of linen-y.

I wish you could feel this fabric too. almost linen-y, but stretchy. another skirt for me.

and next-- maybe a picture of one of these ON someone :)

kids

Just the kids hanging out on the bean bag

Quinn was closing her eyes so I wouldn't take a picture.

I love my little man!!! He seems finally ALL better from being sick for 3 months straight. He's back to taking two awesome naps and sleeping all night and being happy all day. it's great. plus how can he not be happy while wearing a motorcycle shirt freezer papered by grandma marcia?? :)

sewing

I've been sewing. I bought THIS cute pattern off MADE (my favorite craft blog) and ran right out to get some elastic thread so I could use the pattern. It's so fun!!! Go buy some elastic thread-- you won't regret it.

This is the first dress attempt I made. Cute.... but no where close to fitting Quinn. Maybe when she's 6?? oops.

Then my second attempt... VERY cute, but she says it's 'too tight.' We tried it on over another outfit, but I'm afraid even with just one undershirt it might be too snug. I was trying not to make it too big. I would say I succeeded. Maybe one of you have a baby girl this would fit???

My third attempt-- for ME. (it's been a while since I've sewn myself something). The skirt selection in my closet hasn't been updated or even added to for YEARS. (Except maybe a maternity skirt or 2). I will probably make at least 2 more of these for myself. It was so easy!!! I just made it up, but if anyone is interested I can tell you how I figured out how big to make it. And maybe I'll even model it for you and take a picture. Maybe :)

I got this red fabric for $3/yard at Joann's.... what steal, huh?

june 2008

I've been bad about taking pictures. so here are some old ones. I didn't want my mom to get home from working a 12 hour shift today and check the blog and see nothing. :)

And since my friend Christy woke up to snow at her house this morning, I thought I'd put up some pictures of summer... it's coming, i swear :)

i love how Quinn's hair gets so white in the summer. it's already starting to turn blonder and it's so cute!!!

Sunday

I'm so sad I cut off the top of his head-- he was having a great hair day.

Quinn. She had a red hair clip in for exactly 3 minutes... then it was lost. none of us can find it and she doesn't remember where she put it or why she took it out.

sorry about my lack of posting. we had a HORRIBLE week last week. me and the kids were SO SICK. I'm talking coughing, runny noses, aching muscles, sore throats, headaches, ear aches, fevers. and can you believe that the only one of us that ended up with an ear infection was ME????? thank heavens for antibiotics. i'm back in the land of the living.
and boy is it good to be back.

"Carrots!!!"

I have no idea why she was yelling 'carrots!!!'

randoms

What the...???

Just a three year old reading books in her toy box

Just a picture of Quinn's pants because I don't know if I've gotten a good picture of her in them. Her Aunt Krystal bought her THE CUTEST pair of jeans ever. Thanks Aunt Krystal :)

They started construction on a house at the end of our culdesac. It gives my kids something fun to watch all day... concrete trucks, bulldozers, etc.

And there's the tongue. It's been out again the last day or so since he officially now has FIVE teeth.

Dave's famous

Did you know I have the coolest husband ever?? He designed the icon for the i-phone app called KaleidoVid. The icon appears in an i-phone commercial!!!! Only for a second, but still pretty much WAY awesome. You can see the whole commercial here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/gallery/ads/#backpacker-large
(it's in the first 5 seconds)
And here's the screen shot so you know what you are looking for. A very nicely designed icon if I must say.

Hendrix's turn on the drums

X working on his drumming skills. (with Q singing Twinkle Twinkle in the background. And why she thinks Twinkle Twinkle needs a drum beat is beyond me.)

gardening.

we decided to move our garden (From that back far corner) to the lovely spot you see here. It's taken lots of backbreaking work-- but it's done!!! Here is Dave working hard and helping me. He's the best!!

Quinn loved helping with the whole process too.

She couldn't believe I was actually letting her pour water on things

"You lookin' at this mom?"

"mmm... dirt"

Such a boy!! With his motorcycle shirt on and dirt on his face. (and did I have to mention his cool spikey hair?)

Just the kiddos being cute after we came inside

dedication point

The last afternoon Julie, Daniel, and Jonathan were here we decided to drive out to Dedication Point. It's only like 15 minutes farther down the road we live on... kind of crazy that this huge canyon is there is the middle of nowhere. Way cool to see. plus we saw some big birds and lots of little lizards (and Hendrix got to try some new rocks).

hehe... quinn cracks me up

Dave saying something like "hey guys, look! a boat!"

Hendrix trying the rocks

Where's Quinn??!!!! she doesn't blend in at all with that outfit on.

girls night out

I had to have a FUN girl's night out with my mom and sister last week. We had lots of fun shopping and going to Cheesecake Factory. It was pretty funny walking to the car afterwards we realized that we had bought SEVEN pairs of shoes.. and that's all. haha... how appropriate for girl's night out, huh? I love these two girls and can't wait to do it again (in Michigan next time!!)

hendrix walking

we definitely have my parents to thank for Hendrix walking so well now. they would hold his hands and walk everywhere with him. (I haven't had the patience-- i just put him behind his bike if he wants to walk). anyway-- it helped him get more balance and confidence and now he's getting really good!!! take a look

eating

we did lots of eating while my family was here. we went to all our favorite restaurants and cooked lots of yummy food at home too. don't you love pictures of people eating??? ha... me too, as long as i'm not in them :)

and of course... ribs :)

wiffle ball

we had an exciting game of wiffle ball one night.

my and my pretty sister, Julie!

a pic with my mom too... she played too-- and was maybe the MVP??

playing

we did lots of playing while my family was here. we went to our favorite park and flew a kite.

Hendrix likes the park (and Grandma)

julie and daniel putting the kite together

we played at Wahooz one day. it's like an arcade/play place/mini golf/go-karts place.

we also did lots of playing in the backyard. i'm moving our garden to a different spot in our yard-- and my parents and sister helped a lot!!
