teething
you'd think that I would have experience with teething since I have a three-year-old... but with Hendrix it's been weird. He's cutting molars-- and he randomly bleeds (kind of a lot) from his mouth. Isn't that strange? I can see that it would bleed right when it cuts through the gums-- but it's been over the last week. Every couple of days he'll have 15-20 minutes with BLOOD drool. gross.
And just so you don't have vampire Hendrix stuck in your head... here's a bloodless picture

maternity jeans
holy crap, guys. I just made myself some maternity jeans.
Does any one else out there have an impossible time finding maternity jeans?? Especially being short-- it's so hard to find pants. I've tried on a bunch of pairs, hoping that they had magically improved since my last pregnancy-- but with no luck. so I took a pair of a regular jeans (that i've been stuffing myself into) and cut off the waist band. Then sewed in a tummy sleeve. I'm sure I could have just used a tight t-shirt, but I knew that the tummy sleeve was tight enough to keep my pants up. Plus, I can roll it down and have it look like a t-shirt underneath. And no more showing my bum to everyone when I bend over-- yeah!!!

And an added bonus-- I can now breath when I'm wearing these pants. whew.

birthday present from davey
I can't believe I'm just now putting up pictures of this. For my birthday Dave made me a couple new pictures. The family one is new, and so is the one of Hendrix. (I'm obviously going to paint that 'x' orange... I just haven't gotten around to it)

Sorry, you gotta love a picture of a picture :)

Thanks babe-- best present ever. Thanks for always being so thoughtful and sweet. I love you :)

Hold my hand!!
The kids looked so cute all dressed for church yesterday so I wanted to take a picture (thanks Grandma Marcia for the cutest little dress ever for Quinn!!)
I told Quinn to hold Hendrix's hand for the picture. Usually he doesn't mind....

She gave up.

This little guy started nursery yesterday. Ugh... not really a day I look forward to. He did awesome though-- maybe better than I did. Every time I peeked in to check on him (like 10 times) he was doing awesome, but when Dave checked on him, he was crying for me. He calmed down for Dave quickly and didn't seem to have any other problems. Now if only his mother can get over her separation issues :)

hendrix talking
hendrix has turned into a little parrot. he'll repeat almost anything you ask him to. i tried to get some of his cutest words/phrases on tape, but of course it's hard to get an 18 month old to really cooperate. he's the best anyway

Monday
Growing up, we had LOTS of fun Halloween traditions. (Katie-- I'm sure you remember) :)
We always had a big family home evening in October, where we would make cupcake spiders or pumpkins, paper spiders to hang on a big web in our entry way, and homemade root-beer with dry ice. So for family home evening while my mom was here we decided to make cupcake spiders.

Here's Dave. Pretending to be excited??

My mom definitely won the contest for cutest spider (don't tell Quinn)

Here they all are

I think the 4 pounds I gained the week my mom was here landed on my face.

haha... nope. my belly. Here are Dave and I about to go on a DATE!!!! Since I'm a freak and never leave my kids, it's a rare occassion lately that Dave and I get out together. Thanks mom for being such an awesome babysitter. And thanks babe, for the Amber-fest movie tickets.

And thanks mom for my cute new boots. I LOVE them. :)

crafts with mom
While my mom was here we made some stuff. She left today... sad :(
Here's my mom in action. We made some paintings for Quinn's big girl room.

I love, love, love how they turned out. They took me LOTS of coats of white paint, so I'm glad my mom was here to help me!! (plus she's way better with details than I am). thanks mom :)

We each made one of these witch feet hand towels. (Thanks Jan for the idea) :)

And I made one of these 'Boo' wreaths for my front door. I have never made a project with burlap before and have always wanted to. I used THIS tutorial. It wasn't hard, but kind of a pain to work with the burlap. It's a little messy. If anyone wants to make one, I have enough burlap strips all cut out-- you'd just have to get the wreath form and letters. let me know.. .they are here waiting for you :)

And Quinn-o got in on the action too.

so...
So, I 'think' I am having a girl. Once again the ultrasound was inconclusive. The baby wasn't cooperating and the umbilical cord was in between the legs. The doctor looked and looked and looked, and never got a good bum shot. but-- the one that we did see-- we saw nothing between the legs (other than the cord). So-- while Dave (And my mom) are unconvinced, for my own sake I'm going to run with it! If in a month they see that we are indeed having a boy-- then great!!! Until then, I'm buying girl clothes, and calling 'it' a 'she' and 'baby girl.' And I might paint the nursery :)
things that make me smile
Today's the day. I'm officially a year older. I have had a wonderfully fun Amber-fest this year. And I thought since I've been so blessed to be so happy, I would share with you the things that make me smile.
This adorable little fella

As much as I am happy to be pregnant and have a baby growing inside me, the thought of my body possibly looking like this again definitely makes me smile.

Chocolate. I love chocolate. (or candy, or icecream, or cake) ha. The funny thing is that the three people who actually participated in Amber-fest each gave me a big bag of M&M's. They know me so well.

Both of these guys make me smile. And the fact that I not only have a smoking hot husband, but my kids have the most awesome dad ever.

This adorable girl. She makes me smile-- amidst her crazy three-year-old-ness. She definitely makes me smile.

This new little munchkin. Who I am lucky enough to get to see again today. Everyone cross your fingers that NO legs are crossed so we can see what it is :)

And these two amazing ladies. I don't know what I would do without them.
