friends

Last night I was doing someone's hair and we were talking about friendships. Making and keeping close friends while we have young kids at home, how important friends are to have a good quality of life, etc. Then after I finished working, Dave was skypeing his best friend Paul. Dave has two best friends ever-- Paul and Clint. It makes me a little jealous-- because I don't have as good of friends as Dave does. They've been friends for years and see each other and talk often and about everything. I have had some great friends in my life too-- but also my fair share of friends who haven't been really good friends or very nice to me. Then-- this morning my mom brought up that she has been having a difficult time with a girl who has been one of her really close friends, but not at all lately. All these things happening in the last 12 hours made me think-- wow. Friends are important.
These guys-- since they are Dave's best friends, are really like my best friends too. :)
And these ladies-- definitely my best friends. I'm thankful for the other friends in my life who have been a constant support to me. Friends make life so much better! I'm thankful for friends.

You know, I am totally in the same boat! Josh has an entire GROUP of friends from college that he stays in close touch with, and I have maybe a handful that I message every once in a while on facebook. If I lived anywhere near you, I'm sure we would become close :)

I'm more like Dave, I have a couple of really close friends that I still talk to weekly and we fly across the country to visit each other yearly. But one thing I've learned is that no matter how good of friends you have, if they aren't in close proximity, there is a still a "friendship hole" that needs to be filled. I totally agree with the sentiment that having good friends improves your quality of life. For some more than others, but friendships are super important. I have been thinking about this a lot lately too.

And I'm kinda bummed that we never became really close growing up together, because now that I e-know you so well, I think we have so much in common. Are you sure you want to move to Portland?

I'm SO thankful for friends. Dad is my best friend because he is always here for me. You too (and Julie, Michael and Daine). But what would I do without Diane and Elisabeth? The people in our lives fill in holes of loneliness. It's just great that people love us and that we have people to show love to. I'm so glad we talk almost every day. It helps me think that you're not really 2000 miles away.

you're my friend. if I say, "I wish we were neighbors" enough times, will it come true?!?!?
